8 Ways to get more Freelance Clients

Going out on your own is exciting but running low on freelance work can definitely change the mood pretty quick. Here are a few tips on how to be more proactive at getting clients.

1.SEND COLD EMAILS

Let’s eat the frog legs first and cold email clients you want to work with.

2.TELL EVERYONE YOU ARE FREELANCING

Tell all your friends and family you are freelancing, even if they aren’t in the position to hire you, they may know someone who is looking or needing some one off help.

3.WORK FROM A CO-WORK OFFICE

Working from home can be lonely but it can also stop you from being surrounded by the right people. Work from a co-work office, even if it is for a few days or a week, you will find you will talk to people that have the same target market as you but aren’t competitors which could result in a referral.

4.FRESHEN UP YOUR IMAGE

This could be from your website to your branding. Is there room for improvement on your website? Is your branding inline with you and your target market?

5.WRITE GUEST POSTS

Write guest posts on already established blogs/websites that have a similar target audience to you. I.e If you are a graphic designer, write a guest post on a website designers blog.

This could be a lead on to writing guest posts for a similar target audience. Partner with other freelancers who target similar clients to you. Clients want their lives to be made easier. This way if they know you work together they would be more likely to hire you both.

7.CONTACT OLD CLIENTS

You should do this monthly, not just when work has slowed down. The best thing to do is to have a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) Database (like Zoho) where you contact your clients once a month, even if they say they don’t have any work or they don’t email back, contact them once a month, every month because it shows you are proactive, you haven’t gone anywhere and you are dedicated.

8.DIGITAL MARKET A PROMO

Facebook and Instagram are great to find leads. Provide a limited time offer on both platforms by doing a post and also a paid post. You have to spend money to make money and you can’t sell a secret.
