Why Should You Take Collagen Powder?

Collagen helps you glow on the inside and out. It is a natural formulation to reduce your skin wrinkles and smooth fine lines, it increases skin hydration and elasticity, and supports healthy hair & nails. Not to mention keeps your gut health intact by rebuilding any gut lining damaged by foods.

Daily use of Collagen can:

  • Reduce cellulite
  • Increase skin moisture
  • Decrease joint pain and inflammation
  • Assists in firmer and smoother skin with fewer wrinkles
  • Acts in dermal skin (inner) against the root cause of ageing
  • Slow the process of the skin losing its firmness
  • Contribute to maintaining skin structure, support wound healing, and support healthy hair & nails with Zinc
  • Aids digestion by reducing gut inflammation, heals stomach ulcers and regulates acid secretion

After 8 weeks of use, you will start to see improvements in the structural integrity of the skin and decrees skin raging factors, improving the skins quality of the entire body and smoothing skin wrinkles from within. Along with regular exercise and a balanced diet, Collagen is clinically proven to:

  • Increase your skins elasticity
  • Reduce skin wrinkles and smooth fine lines
  • Increase skin hydration and improve moisture levels
  • Contribute to collagen formation & protection from free radical damage with Vitamin C (if your Collagen includes Vit C as some don’t).
  • Contribute to maintaining skin structure, support wound healing, and support healthy hair & nails with Zinc
  • Support tissue building & repair with a good source of Protein

Collagen provides the necessary building blocks to restore and repair your gut lining, it keeps our immune system strong and increases your overall wellbeing. After all, the gut is largely where our immune system resides and is in fact where over 70% of our serotonin (happy hormone) is made.

Amino acids have recently become big business, even though they have been widely used for many years. Amino acids are found in collagen supplements, bone broth, meat and dairy foods. Your body uses amino acids to build your muscle, bone, cartilage, skin, hair, connective tissue, and much more, especially your muscles after you weight train. There are many different types of amino acids, but the kind you find in your body make up collagen. Collagen is the main structural protein that forms your connective tissues and skin.

Your body’s collagen production declines as you age and you need adequate collagen for strong bones, joints, and skin, adding more collagen to your diet is a no-brainer and you definitely would benefit from it in the long run. However supplements on the market are made mostly from animal parts, like fish or cow bones or skin. (Sorry Vegans).

Most collagen peptides powder on the market contain a “hydrolysed” type-I collagen extracted from hides, bones, or fish scales. Hydrolysed simply means that the amino acid chains have been broken down into smaller units, a process that allows the powder to dissolve in both hot and cold liquids. This type of collagen has become incredibly popular due to the fact you to add it to everything from hot coffee and soups to smoothies. . It also packs a protein punch, with a two-scoop serving of most collagen peptides delivering around 18 grams.

How to Choose a Collagen Supplement

It’s always advised to choose food over supplements no matter what as we know so much about the benefits of eating protein (among all other nutrients) in food, but very little about the benefits of eating it in isolated form. That being said, protein isolates can help you meet higher needs due to disease, injury, sports, skin conditions, or appetite loss.

I recommend when choosing a collagen supplement, choose one with vitamin c, zinc and silica to increase collagen absorption and effectiveness. Collagen is a high source of protein, low in kilojoules, has no sugar and carbohydrates, so I personally would stay away from the flavoured versions and just add it to my daily coffee routine or breakfast porridge, this way its not “another thing you need to do”, it’s simply added in to what you are already doing.
